Duties include the following: system board level troubleshooting, software troubleshooting, hardware and software upgrades, OS loads, and customer requests.   Specific job duties include the following:

Assemble components into prototype system

The received components are assembled into completed prototype units per customer specifications.  Hardware techs are responsible for communicating with the developers to determine the needs of each developer and the level of support the techs will need to provide them.

Perform turn-on testing and functional Testing

The completed unit is plugged in and powered up to verify basic functionality.  Techs perform any testing as necessary to determine board-level integrity.  The functional testing phase of the project involves booting the system and testing any subsystem that has current tests.  These tests insure that all the components in the systems are functional and ready to be used by developers.

Make System board Rework (micro-rework)

Hardware techs keep up to date on board-level rework required on the prototype systems.  Techs then obtain the necessary electronic components (resistors, capacitors, etc) and perform the micro-rework.

Troubleshoot

Hardware techs troubleshoot all system hardware problems to the component level.  Non-functioning systems are diagnosed in the lab, and failing components are replaced.  Hardware problems encountered are communicated to the appropriate customer contact for further analysis.
